Our Story
"Badelein Ge Nizaam, Khushaal Hoga Pakistan"
We will change the system, Pakistan will be prosperous
Pakistan is a nation of extraordinary potential, built on the strength and resilience of its 245 million people. Yet for 78 years, citizens of Pakistan have repeatedly seen failed systems of governance, undemocratic military rule and capture by the elite. From birth, our children face one of the world's highest mortality and malnutrition rates, while 26 million children are out of school. Young people often cannot find jobs despite years of education. The economy suffers from lack of manufacturing industries and opportunities, slow growth (despite rich resources) with high inflation driven by security-minded policies, ad hoc regulations and lack of good governance.
The full potential of Pakistan can be utilized by a transformation of social norms that hold back our women and girls from education, employment, decision-making and leadership - depriving Pakistan of its human development capital.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Miftah Ismail, and a group of concerned citizens founded Awaam Pakistan because they believe this must change. Our aim is to re-engage citizens in governance, trust building, and a trade-centric economy where human capital development is a priority for a prosperous and healthy Pakistan.
Awaam Pakistan is working towards a Khushaal Pakistan with opportunities for all through respect of the Constitution, equality of justice and strengthening economic ties with neighboring countries and the global world. Come join us to reclaim Pakistan's promise and ensure that its story becomes one of progress, equality, and shared prosperity.
Our Core Principles
Pakistan's political landscape is complex with intermittent bouts of democratic governments, judicial interference, Parliamentary abdication of responsibility and weak institutions. Political parties have often prioritized retaining power over the people's welfare, leading to a country where citizens often have no feedback systems or voice in decisions that affect their lives.
Awaam Pakistan seeks to change this entrenched system. We believe that the people of Pakistan, poor or rich, young or old, women or men, should have dignity, hope and economic security to lead their lives. The eight foundational principles we uphold:
1. Supremacy of the Constitution
All institutions will uphold the supremacy of the law according to Pakistan's Constitution. What this means for the common citizen is clarity of rules, consistency of policies, quick dispensation of justice, accountability and enforcement of the rules without bias for wealth, gender, ethnicity, or religion.
2. Accountability and Transparency
Countries progress when transparency of rules exist and citizen feedback mechanisms are present in institutions, agencies and at all levels of public dealing. Awaam Pakistan will follow the principles of consistency in policies, establish a permanent Truth and Reconciliation Commission, refrain from ad hoc regulations and rules, create feedback and performance mechanisms in all institutions while upholding the Constitution, so that the voice of the people is heard.
3. Service to the People
People know their problems and often the solutions. The role of the State is to facilitate citizens to find opportunities and skills that match their aspirations. Awaam Pakistan will focus on strengthening health, education, economic and social institutions that enable people, particularly the poorest populations, to find self-sufficiency and economic prosperity.
4. Human Development
The foundation stone of any progressive society is quality education and health care, urban planning, rural development, affordable housing and transport, climate resilience and trade. Awaam Pakistan will ensure clean air, clean water, and sustainable management of natural resources for future generations. We will create a youth-centric nation through skills development, enterprise promotion, technology-knowledge driven education to bring jobs and income opportunities to our 144 million young people.
5. Uplifting the Vulnerable
A nation is recognized by how it treats its most marginalized, disabled and minority populations. Awaam Pakistan will ensure dignity for all through social safety nets (BISP, Sehat Sahulat, Zakat and Bait ul Mal etc.) programs so that no one is left behind for essential health, education, housing and jobs.
6. Freedom for All
An open society is not afraid of its citizens and allows healthy dialogue and debates. Awaam Pakistan will push for legislation (and remove retrogressive laws) that disenfranchise media, civil society and citizens from their rights to hold the government and institutions accountable.
7. Decentralized Governance
Effective and responsive politics is local. Awaam Pakistan will decentralize power to district and local governments, create autonomy of decision making in public service officials and implement people centric, accountable, transparent feedback systems.
8. Economic Prosperity
A strong economy is essential for a stable and dignified society. Awaam Pakistan will promote investment, trade, agriculture, and small enterprises, create jobs and improve productivity. We aim to ensure every citizen has the opportunity to participate in, and benefit from, Pakistan's economic growth.
Awaam Pakistan stands to restore hope, transform the Nizaam, and build a Khushaal Pakistan where every citizen's voice matters.
Our Mission
To create systemic reform in Pakistan that ensures equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of their background. We believe in meritocracy, social mobility, and ensuring that if you work hard, you'll have enough to live a dignified life.
Our Vision
A Pakistan where each individual can control his or her destiny. A prosperous Pakistan (Kushhaal Pakistan) where every generation is better off than the previous one, and where success depends on hard work and talent, not privilege.
